The Rock Valley area once had a pair of Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad (Milwaukee Road) secondary lines, including an east/west line and a north/south line along the Big Sioux River several miles west of the town. Today, the east/west line has been abandoned, while the north/south line is owned by D&I Railroad.
