Winfield once had two railroads, including a Chicago & North Western Railway (C&NW) mainline and the Chicago, Aurora & Elgin Railroad (CA&E). Today, the C&NW is owned by Union Pacific Railroad, CA&E has been converted to the Illinois Prairie Path.
