Topeka once had a number of railroad lines, including lines of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway, the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad, the Missouri Pacific Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad. Today, Union Pacific operates the former UP and RI lines, while BNSF Railway operates the former ATSF lines. The MP line has since become a trail.
