Sugar Grove once had two railroads, including a Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (CB&Q) mainline and a Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad (Milwaukee Road) secondary line. Today, the former CB&Q is owned by BNSF Railway while the former Milwaukee Road is largely part of the Virgil Gilman Trail.
