Rockwell City once had a Illinois Central Railroad (IC) mainline, a Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad (Milwaukee Road) secondary line, a Milwaukee Road branch line and a Fort Dodge, Des Moines & Southern Railway branch line. Today, the former IC is owned by Canadian National Railway, while the remaining lines have been abandoned.
