Rapid City once had three railroads, including two Chicago & North Western Railway secondary lines and a Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway (Milwaukee Road) secondary line. Today, the C&NW lines are owned by Rapid City, Pierre & Eastern Railroad, while the Milwaukee Road is currently out of service.
