Perry once had a Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad (Milwaukee Road) mainline, a Minneapolis & St. Louis Railway (M&StL) secondary line and a Des Moines & Central Iowa Railway interurban line. Today, all three railroads have been abandoned. The Raccoon River Valley Trail has reused portions of the Milwaukee Road west of the city and portions of the M&StL south of the city.
