Mokena once had a Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad (Rock Island) mainline, an Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway (EJ&E) mainline, and a Michigan Central Railroad (MC) mainline. Today, the Rock Island is owned by CSX, while the EJ&E is owned by Canadian National Railway. The MC has become part of a trail.
