Mendota had a pair of railroads, including a Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway (Milwaukee Road) mainline and a Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railway (Omaha Road) mainline. Today, the Milwaukee Road is mainly abandoned, while the Omaha Road is owned by Union Pacific Railroad.
