Lemont once hosted mainlines of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway (ATSF); the Chicago & Alton Railroad (C&A); and the Chicago & Joliet Electric Railway (C&JE). Today, the ATSF is owned by BNSF Railway, the C&A is owned by Union Pacific Railroad, and the C&JE is abandoned.
