Green Valley once had three railroads, including a Chicago & North Western Railway (C&NW) secondary line, a Chicago & Alton Railroad (C&A) branch line and an Illinois Central Railroad (IC) secondary line. Today, the C&NW is owned by Union Pacific Railroad, the IC is owned by Canadian National Railway and the C&A is abandoned.
