Galena once had a number of railroads, including a mainline of the Illinois Central Railroad (IC), a branch line of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) and a branch line of the Chicago & North Western Railway (C&NW). Today, Canadian National Railway operates the IC, while the branch lines have been abandoned.
