Fond du Lac is one of the main cities located on Lake Winnebago. The railroad was a major interchange point for lines of the Chicago & North Western Railway (C&NW), the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad (Milwaukee Road) and the Wisconsin Central Railway (WC). Today, Canadian National Railway and Wisconsin & Southern Railroad operate the remaining lines, while much of the trackage has been abandoned.
