Evanston, Cook County , Illinois

Evanston once had three railroads; including a mainline and secondary line of the Chicago & North Western Railway (C&NW), and an extension of the Chicago "L" system which utilized the Chicago & Evanston branch of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway (Milwaukee Road). Today, the C&NW mainline is owned by Union Pacific Railroad; while the branch line is abandoned. The CTA operates the Purple Line through the city.
