DePue is a small village in the Negro Creek Valley of Bureau County.
The town had three railroads serving it. The Rock Island had a mainline connecting Chicago to Iowa. This line is now Iowa Interstate.
The New York Central and Milwaukee Road operated a joint line through town, which is now abandoned.
In addition, the Chicago, Ottawa & Peoria had an interurban line along the Illinois River, now mostly removed.
