Containing a quartet of I-Beam spans, the bridge rests on concrete abutments. The bridge has some decorative feature, unlike the similar bridge crossing Riverside Drive.
In 2008, the Iowa River had a severe flood. The road under this bridge was completely flooded.
Overall, the bridge is in good condition. It features the Iowa Hawkeyes logo on the piers.

The author has ranked the bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
