Carpenter, Iowa

Carpenter had two railroads. The Milwaukee Road and Chicago Great Western each operated lines through the area. Today, the CGW is gone; while the MILW is operated by Canadian Pacific (DM&E).
In addition, the Illinois Central operated a line near here. It is now Canadian National. Carpenter also includes the small towns of Mona, Meltonville and Otranto. Portions of the area lie in Worth County.
